Tyres can wear quicker when the vehicle is misaligned

As the old saying goes, prevention is better than the cure, and when it comes badly worn tyres, this is certainly the case.
If you’re fitting a new set of tyres to your car, it’s likely you’ll be paying out several hundreds of pounds. While we fully appreciate the critical role that your tyres play in keeping you safe on the road and recognise the investment in new tyres as worthwhile purchase, many drivers would probably prefer spending the money on something a bit more exciting or enjoyable!
However, it’s inevitable that at some point you’ll need to replace your car’s tyres. And because of the sizeable investment you’re making, it’s essential that you get your money’s worth out of them which means ensuring they last as long as possible.

Replacing your tyres every six months isn’t normal!

Rubbish Tyres

Don’t let your tyres end up in the bin any sooner than neccesary

Remember, if you’re having to change the tyres on your car every six months or so, this is not normal! It’s likely you’ve got an issue with your car or your driving style and your tyre dealer should be able to help you understand more.
When replacing your tyres, your tyre dealer will be able to look at the way your current set have worn out. If there is a major issue, they may be able to tell you fairly easily what is causing the problem and why your tyres are wearing out quickly.
However, more often the problem is more subtle and immediate diagnosis just by looking at the tyres may not be possible. For this reason, we’d recommend that whenever fitting new tyres, you should also have a four wheel alignment check carried out. It’s worth remembering that once you can see signs of uneven wear on your tyres, it’s too late and the damage has been done.

Safety, vehicle handling, money saving
By carrying out an alignment check ahead of replacing your tyres, you can be sure that once they’re fitted, they’ll last as long as possible. What’s more, with your car’s wheel properly aligned, you’ll also be able to reduce your fuel bills, your car’s handling will be improved and you your safety on the road will be maximised.
So, if you think you’re having to change your tyres too often, why not find your nearest AlignMyCar centre and see if misalignment is causing you unnecessary expense.
